    Franz Fanon: A Revolutionary Voice

    Early Life and Education

    Franz Fanon, a French-speaking West Indian revolutionary, was born on the French island of Martinique in 1925.

    His father was of African descent, while his mother had ancestors from Alsace. Fanon attended the prestigious Lycee Schoelcher, where he was influenced by the poet and Negritude movement founder, Aimé Césaire.

    Wartime Experiences and Anti-Colonialism

    During World War II, Martinique was occupied by collaborationist Vichy forces.

    Fanon witnessed firsthand the rampant racism and oppression of French soldiers. At the age of 18, he fled the island and joined the Free French forces in D
